Judge Sandy Fairthorne’s feedback: ‘After much deliberation, I have granted second prize to In our Waters, a beautifully written account of one family’s mysterious link with drownings over generations. It was poetic, dark and gripping, with a quiet strength reminiscent of Helen Garner.’
